How to get in IB

  • If you are an business owner that would like to appear in In Business magazine, the first thing you should do is submit a Company Survey.
  • If you are a leader in the community and would like to appear in In Business magazine, you should apply for the Executive Directory or 40 Under 40.
  • If you would like to pitch a story idea, just send your suggestions to Editorial Director, Heather Skyler at heathers@magnapubs.com. You don't need to know what department heading your idea might fit under! - but if you're curious, check the list below to see the information we generally cover.

Cover story
In Business puts a human face with area business initiatives and practices, so we feature local business people on many of our covers. The topics, selected in advance by our Editorial Board, are published in accordance with our Editorial Calendar.

Reviews
Timely analysis of key area industries including health, law, high tech, and finance.

Industry Focus
An industry's trends, high points and challenges - with expert sources and analysis, and end-user comments.

Business Dynamics
An in-depth look at specific issues or challenges facing a local company or business owner, from handling layoffs to managing succession after a messy divorce. We always welcome suggestions for this section.

Business Report
Shorter items: press releases and time-sensitive news like business expansions, commendations, awards, mergers and acquisitions, relocations, and anniversaries.

Roundtables
Quarterly panels take on high-level discussions about hot-button topics affecting the Greater Madison area.

Monthly in-depth profile of an area executive in a new position.
